We are facing a serious shortage of Stewards in the general NJ and neighboring areas.
Factors including “aging out” and relocation southwards have exacerbated the problem. Stewarding is a rewarding way to stay involved in the sport when you have no entry or insufficient funds to enter as often as desired. Stewards are a necessary component of Dog Shows, so you can help your Club by learning the job and volunteering. Stewarding also offers socialization, making new acquaintances and friends, a firsthand opportunity to meet and evaluate judges you may consider hiring or showing to, and an opportunity to learn about breeds beyond your own.

We will be emailing material from the AKC to those who make a reservation for our program for perusal & study before the presentation. We recommend printing the attachments to bring with you for reference at the Wednesday presentation
On Wednesday we will discuss basic responsibilities of a Steward, AKC requirements and a variety of methods used by experienced & respected Stewards to make a ring run smoothly.. This introduction should prepare you for in person mentoring opportunities.
In concert with several Chief Stewards we will help assist our “students” in signing up for in person apprenticing at upcoming local Shows.
